Our school has bright and enthusiastic students from the ages of 6 to 19. We are looking for volunteers to share their skills and experiences to help enrich our students’ education and guide our teachers. In addition, we would more than welcome volunteers for physical education who are eager to share their skills since sport is a very important part of the school and big source of joy to many of our students (both girls and boys).

Furthermore, we are looking for help in our two nursery schools, one is located on the school grounds, and another is located nearby and run by Danielle Shashua, my daughter. Children attending these nurseries are aged between 3 and 6 and from very vulnerable families. When these children finish nursery, they will be attending our school.

Furthermore, we have a farm located on our land (about 2km from the school) where we raise Cows, pigs, goats and chickens. The cows from our farm provide milk to our nursery schools. We also have an agriculture project on this land, where we are growing maize and beans to use for our schools daily lunch. Every volunteer who likes to garden, to help on the farm or to take care of the animals is most welcome. Veterinary skills would also be highly appreciated.

We have a volunteer home directly on the school premises. The accommodations are modern and comfortable. Each bedroom is equipped with one or two single beds, bedside table, wardrobe, desk and chair. Volunteers have 2 shared bathrooms and showers which are western standard with hot water. Furthermore, there is a living room with 2 sofas, a big kitchen table with benches and a western standard kitchen, equipped with gas stove and oven, microwave, kettle, drinking water dispenser, fridge, freezer and washing machine.

We provide lunch from the school kitchen to all students and staff. Volunteers are welcome to eat as well.

Enjoy a powerful and empowering experience! Volunteers will have the chance to immerse themselves into the culture of Rwanda and have rural life experience. They can learn some Kinyarwanda from locals, learn to cook and enjoy local dishes.

Market and small shops are outside the school premises within 5 walking minutes distance and the center of Gashora is in walking distance. Here you can explore rural village life, trade on the market and talk to people. Also in walking distance is famous Bugesera Lake where you can find beautiful nature. Many local people and children love to come here to relax.

As we are located 57km from Kigali, volunteers will have the chance to visit the capital and its various places of interest. There are buses that can take you from Gashora directly to Kigali in an hour and a half. Furthermore, there are many national parks in Rwanda, for example Akagera  National Park in the eastern region.

For more information, please contact me. I am here at the school every day and I look forward to welcoming you.
